SPILF 2025 to discuss the development of cooperation between SCO countries in the legal sphere

The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF 2025) will host a session entitled ‘Expanding Legal Cooperation Among SCO Member States’. It will be part of the thematic track ‘International Law in a Changing World’ and will become an important platform for discussing joint legal initiatives, exchanging experience and strengthening academic and practical ties.
The initiative to hold the session was the result of many years of cooperation between the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and Shanghai University of Politics and Law. The interaction between the two leading universities has allowed to develop significant potential for a comprehensive dialogue on legal issues, which today are becoming increasingly interconnected in Eurasia.
Oleg Zaitsev, Dean of the Graduate School of Law of the Presidential Academy, member of the Board of the Russian Bar Association, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the legal sphere: “The world is going through a complex stage of transformation in which the role of international law is not weakening, but, on the contrary, is acquiring new significance. The SCO countries are building a joint modern legal architecture capable of meeting the challenges of the time – from cyber security and cross-border trade to humanitarian cooperation and sustainable development. Academic and expert cooperation between our states is becoming an integral part of this process. We are glad that the SPILF makes it possible not only to discuss these issues, but also to form concrete proposals for the rapprochement of legal systems and the unification of lawyers from the SCO member states.”
The session promises to become a significant platform for forming a unified approach to the challenges of modern legal reality and strengthening legal dialogue among the SCO member states.
The Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
