The 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which will be held on 11–13 May in St. Petersburg (ExpoForum), will be the second one after the ‘reset’ of the format and, as last year, will be held offline.

The business programme of the 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum will consist of six thematic tracks: ‘Sovereign Power in a Changing World’, ‘Business and Investment in the Face of Sanctions’, ‘Effective Law for an Effective State’, ‘Digitalization: The Law of the Future or the Future of the Law?’, ‘Justice and Dispute Resolution: New Realities and Horizons’, ‘Law and Society’. In addition, the Forum will include the International Conference of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and a lecture from the Chairman of the Constitutional Court. Traditionally, on the opening day (10 May), students and young legal professionals will be able to take part in the Youth Legal Forum.

The Forum Organizing Committee, the Russian Ministry of Justice, together with relevant agencies and the professional community worked together to select the most pressing topics for discussion under the SPILF 2023 business programme from over a thousand proposals.

“The 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum will have the slogan ‘Sovereignty in Law’. Last year, we and our foreign colleagues discussed legal issues in the transition to a multipolar world. Now it is time to talk about the tools which allow each country to protect its sovereignty and develop within the new legal reality. We are uncomfortable with the way in which a number of unfriendly countries are trying to use the system of international law as instruments of political influence for their own self-interest and false propaganda. In this Forum, we must develop universal safeguards that will preserve the impartiality of international justice,” said Russian Ministry of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko.

“Preparations for the 11th Forum are now well underway. Professionals from more than 20 countries have already confirmed their participation. We expect participants to have a constructive and comprehensive discussion of the issues that need the collective opinion of professionals,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Organizing Committee.

The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is the largest and most unique platform for dialogue in the field of law. SPILF traditionally brings together leading lawyers of various specialisations, public figures, opinion leaders, as well as media representatives.
