Roscongress Foundation and Russian Ministry of Justice Release SPILF 2023 Magazine

In the run-up to the 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF), which will take place on 11–13 May 2023 at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Roscongress Foundation and the Russian Ministry of Justice have released an official magazine for the event.

Much of the magazine’s materials are devoted to the main theme of the Forum – ‘Sovereignty in Law’. It contains an analysis of the current and highly complex situation that has evolved in the system of international law, and clearly reflects Russia’s position to uphold the principles of the international legal order based on the UN Charter, while taking into account new realities.

The magazine contains articles by Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova, Chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Sergey Stepashin, All-Russian State University of Justice (Russian Law Academy of the Russian Ministry of Justice) Rector Olga Alexandrova, and other prominent experts. In their materials, they addressed a wide range of important subjects, including the legal protection of historical memory and the interests of Russians abroad, humanitarian values, and the new landscape of cross-border disputes.

Readers will also learn about initiatives that are being implemented by the Russian Ministry of Justice and other agencies to harmonize the Russian legal system. In particular, Russia is developing a system of free legal assistance, introducing new digital technologies, improving practices of interaction with NPOs, and working actively to bolster environmental legislation.

The historical section of the magazine features an article about Gavriil Derzhavin, a prominent Russian poet, statesman, and the first minister of justice of the Russian Empire. The 280th anniversary of his birth is being celebrated in 2023.

The magazine will provide the Forum’s guests and participants with useful information about its business, cultural, and sports programmes as well as various services at the event venue.

The electronic version of the magazine is available on the SPILF website.
