International Youth Legal Forum on SPILF Opening Day

On 10 May, the 13th International Youth Legal Forum will be held in St. Petersburg. It will open the main event of the year in Russian jurisprudence – the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. SPILF is organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation.

The Youth Legal Forum in St. Petersburg is expected to bring together over 400 young lawyers, researchers from Russia and foreign countries. They will meet with representatives of government authorities, law firms, science and education to discuss current trends and recent developments in Russian and international law in ExpoForum (64/1, Peterburgskoye Shosse).

The plenary session of the IYLF will be attended by Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation; Konstantin Chuichenko, Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation; Nikolay Kropachev, Corresponding Member of RAS, Rector of Saint Petersburg State University; Sergey Belov, Dean of the Law Faculty of Saint Petersburg State University; Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights; and Vladislav Arkhipov, Director of the Information Security and Digital Transformation Research Centre of the Saint Petersburg State University.

 “St. Petersburg University has traditionally paid great attention to improving the quality of education and training of legal professionals. Today, it is particularly important to involve the younger generation in discussions on the modernization of law in an era of global change. The Youth Legal Forum, which will be held on the opening day of the ‘big’ St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, will be a platform for an honest and open dialogue among lawyers of different generations,” Nikolay Kropachev, Corresponding Member of RAS, Rector of Saint Petersburg State University.

Representatives of legislative and judicial authorities, federal ministries and agencies, experts of the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading educational facilities of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the law firms will give lectures and master classes during the IYLF.

Lawyers will address the specifics of providing free legal aid, will explain what competences young people need in order to be in demand on the labour market, and will share their experiences of legal work in corporate governance, biotechnology, medicine, fashion, sports, etc.

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and Saint Petersburg State University organize the IYLF.
