The Association of Lawyers of Russia (ALRF) reunites more than 35,000 lawyers, has 88 regional departments in all the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including one interregional department, and over 600 local departments.

The Founding Congress of the Association took place on 22 December 2005 in Moscow and was attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who owns the membership No. 1 of the ALRF. The Board of Trustees of the Association is headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

Main activities of the Association are: providing free legal aid, legal education to citizens, improving the quality of law education, public expertise on legal bills, defending the interests of the Russian legal community on the global stage, awarding of the Highest Legal Award «Lawyer of the Year» established by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
