St. Petersburg State Memorial Museum of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad ( 9, Solyanoy Pereulok)

The museum currently has 54,261 items in its collection. Among them are: 7 thousand works of graphics, painting and sculpture, 19 thousand manuscript and documentary materials, 3.7 thousand items of soldiers' and siege life, as well as 20 thousand photographs, 3.5 thousand orders, medals and signs, over 500 items of equipment and weapons, books published in besieged Leningrad.

Russian State Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic (24A, Ulitsa Marata)

The Arctic and Antarctic Museum is the only museum in Russia dedicated to both polar regions. The museum is located in the building of the former St. Nicholas Church. The exposition is presented in 3 sections: "Nature of the Arctic", "History of research and development of the Northern Sea Route", and "Antarctica". Here you can see personal collections of researchers, expedition equipment, unique devices, models of ships, dioramas.

St. Isaac's Cathedral State Monument Museum (4, St. Isaac’s Square)

The St. Isaac's Cathedral Monument Museum is one of the most significant art museums in Russia, which enjoys fame around the world. St. Isaac's Cathedral is a unique monument of Russian architecture and one of the most outstanding cathedrals in Europe. It is an exceptional example of Russian church art. Decoration of the cathedral includes the largest collection of Russian monumental paintings of the mid 19th century, totalling more than 150 works. Among them are works by famous artists Vasily Shebuev, Karl Bryullov, Fyodor Bruni. Over 300 statues, sculptural groups and reliefs were made by Ivan Vitali. More than 60 mosaic works by Russian masters play an important role in the artistic and decorative ornamentation. Of undoubted interest is one of the largest stained-glass windows in Russia with an area of 28.5 square metres.

Celebrating the 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Professor Mikhail Shargorodsky (7, 22 Liniya, Vasilyevsky Island, 2nd floor, St. Petersburg)

The name of Mikhail Shargorodsky (1904–1973) is known far beyond the field of criminal law. A veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Head of Department at Leningrad University, Professor Shargorodsky made a significant contribution to the development both of criminology and the general theory of law. The exhibit features books and articles that trace his journey as a scholar, as well as items from his personal collection stored at the University. Professor Shargorodsky was also a bibliophile: his home library was full of both scientific publications of the 19th century and the best works of fiction, such as those published by the Academia publishing house. The library was donated to the University and is now kept in the legal section of the Gorky Scientific Library.

Book Rarities in the Legal Section’s Collection: Rare Books, Ex Libris, Dedicatory Inscriptions (7, 22 Liniya, Vasilyevsky Island, 2nd floor, St. Petersburg)

The exhibit features bibliographical rarities on legal topics and the results of the library staff’s work with them. The team studies the origin of publications, finds out what happened to their owners and their private collections, establishes relationships between books, collections and people, and checks each copy for Ex Libris, dedicatory inscriptions, and marginalia. The findings of this work are published in the professional literature, as well as in SPBU’s own popular science journal. A special story is dedicated to the treasures found in the legal book collection: Justinian’s Institutes (1540), A Paraphrase of Theophilus (1751), the Code of Canon Law of Pope Gregory XIII (1650), and works on German law, including Criminal Treatise (1629) and Method of Jurisprudence (1756).

History of Legal Education at St. Petersburg State University (7, 22 Liniya, Vasilyevsky Island, 2nd floor, St. Petersburg)

The collections of the legal section of the Gorky Scientific Library of St. Petersburg State University tell the 300-year history of legal education in academic, imperial and Soviet university. The exhibit features the most important works produced by the St. Petersburg school of law – textbooks, lecture courses and monographs from the early 19th century to the present day. Universities have also instilled a commitment to science in their students, and a great deal of attention is paid to the development of the various forms of student science: pre-revolutionary scientific societies and circles, modern-style university science clubs, and scientific competitions and awards. The exhibit also includes items donated by law students: exam notes, letters of gratitude, and gifts and endowments to the University.

Gatchina Palace (Gatchina, Leningrad Region 1, Krasnoarmeyskiy Prospekt)

Gatchina Palace is a country imperial residence closely associated with the likes of Paul I and Alexander III.
In the 18th century palace, you can see the restored ceremonial interiors of Paul's time, including the Upper Throne Room and the Parade Bedroom, as well as stroll through the romantic underground passage and experience the famous Gatchina echo.

Priory Palace ( Gatchina, Leningrad Region, 22A, Ulitsa Chkalova)

The Priory Palace, a unique earthen building created in 1798–1799 by architect Nikolai Lvov for the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem (Order of Malta), is unique in its architectural design and technical implementation. The exposition of the Priory Palace tells about the Order of Malta and its connection with the Russian Empire at the time of Emperor Paul I.

The Hermitage houses works of art from different eras and nations: the ancient Orient and Egypt, the Middle Ages in Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and Russia. There are halls devoted to Spain, France, England, Germany, Holland and many other countries. But one of the most important places is occupied by the halls dedicated to the art of Italy. The jewel and pride of the collection are works by the most famous masters of the Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Raphael, Michelangelo and others.

Roerich Family Museum Institute (1, 18-ya Liniya, Vasilievsky Island)

The Roerich Family Museum Institute is located on Vasilievsky Island, in the old mansion of Academician Botkin that Nikolai Roerich visited many times. The basis of the memorial display of the Museum is the heritage preserved by Helena Roerich’s niece Lyudmila Mitusova and her family. Over several years, the owners of private collections have donated a number of art pieces and other exhibits to the museum. To date, its collection numbers about 15,000 items, including personal belongings, manuscripts, paintings, decorative and applied arts, archaeological artefacts, photographs and other cultural treasures reflecting the broad context of the Roerich family’s life and work.
