The main theme of SPILF 2025 announced as ‘The Law: Lessons of the Past for the World of the Future’

The 13th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum
(SPILF 2025) will be held with the main theme ‘The Law: Lessons of the Past for the World of the Future’. This embodies
the Forum’s core idea: the need to reflect deeply on historical experience in
order to develop joint solutions that can support the growth and strengthening
of legal foundations in a fair and multipolar world.
Russian Minister of Justice and Chairman of the SPILF
Organizing Committee, Konstantin
Chuychenko, commented:
“This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the
Great Patriotic War. In this context, the Forum’s theme feels especially
relevant. We must remember the key events of our shared history, view them
objectively, and resist any distortion of historical facts. Respect for human
rights and fundamental freedoms, equality of sovereign states, the good-faith
fulfilment of international obligations, and non-interference in internal
affairs are all fundamental principles and norms of international law,
enshrined by the global community decades ago. They must still remain essential
conditions for fair cooperation and balanced development across the world.”
The SPILF 2025 main theme once again
highlights the role of law as a cornerstone and a vital link capable of
bringing nations and states together in pursuit of global wellbeing and
harmonious progress.
