Mind Sports Lounge at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum: 150 participants on day 1, chess battles, and a duel with a world champion
150 people took part in Mind Sports Lounge events on the first day of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
The Mind Sports Lounge programme kicked off with the SPILF Chess Cup – a round-robin tournament with a time control of five minutes plus three seconds for each move starting from move one.
The Cup was won by Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Professor Konstantin Krakovsky. Other prize winners included Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at Yakovlev Ural State Law University Andrei Vinnitsky and Associate Professor of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department at South Ural State University Alexander Ulyanov. The Minister of Justice of the Republic of South Ossetia, Alan Dzhioev, also competed in the tournament.
The tournament was organized with the support of the St. Petersburg Chess Federation.
Twelve participants in the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum tested their skills against the European Veterans Draughts Champion Andrey Napreenkov in a simultaneous exhibition. While the champ didn’t lose a single game, two of his non-professional opponents managed to pull out a draw against him. One of Napreenkov’s opponents in the exhibition was Minister for Finance of the Republic of Abkhazia Iatyr Azhiba.
To wrap up the day, the head of the Zvezda Go Club, Alexander Starykh, gave a master class on Go.
The sports programme of the 12th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum has been organized by RC Sport, the sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation.
