Import-independence: Russian video communication used at SPILF 2024

From 26 to 28 June, the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg played host to the XII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF), the key annual event for discussing current legal issues and international cooperation. Online participants in the business programme were connected using the domestic VINTEO videoconferencing platform, a solution has been successfully used for more than six years in the Russian judicial system for organizing online sessions and intra-departmental processes of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and other instances.

SPILF 2024 brought together leading experts in the field of law, politics and science from 81 countries. The VINTEO videoconferencing platform was used to connect remote speakers and participants, including for the open meeting of the Ministers of Justice chaired by the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuychenko. Representatives of 19 countries logged in for the meeting.

The main functionality of the VINTEO software server (MCU, Multipoint Control Unit) was used to work at the Forum. This offers extensive conference administration and moderating capabilities, an intelligent layout designer with dynamically changing roles of participants, simultaneous translations with adjustable volume of audio channels to make the work of speakers and interpreters as comfortable as possible, and enhanced security tools.
