SPILF 2024 releases business programme

The 12th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF) has released its official business programme. The main theme of the Forum this year is ‘Law: The Foundation of Global Balance’. The programme will include roundtables, business sessions, open dialogues, meetings, business breakfasts, lectures, and presentations.

The SPILF 2024 business programme consists of nine thematic pillars with more than 120 events. Representatives of the legal industry will have a chance to share their experience and exchange opinions on current issues concerning modern law.

“The event will feature an in-depth analysis and discussion of mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between countries, as well as the preparation of strategies that promote sustainable development and the coordination of interests in the international arena. The principles of sovereign equality, openness, and consensus, on which the concept of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship is based, play a key role in modern geopolitics. Considering Russia’s BRICS chairmanship this year, we will definitely devote time to this agenda at the Forum,” Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the SPILF Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.

The Forum participants will discuss such issues as adapting international law to modern conditions, improving dispute resolution methods, integrating environmental principles into urban development, applying innovations and technologies in the legal industry, and improving the level of legal education.

The Forum will also include an open meeting of ministers of justice, a meeting of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption working group with representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Russia, a meeting of the CIS Human Rights Commission, as well as a lecture by the chairman of the Russian Constitutional Court.

The 14th International Youth Legal Forum will take place on 29 June. Its programme will include sections and roundtables, during which students and young professionals will consider legal problems associated with artificial intelligence, medical and pharmaceutical law, international taxation in BRICS+ countries, as well as the role of law and legislation in the mental immunity of Russian young people.

The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is a major and unique platform for dialogue concerning matters of law. It traditionally brings together prominent lawyers in various specializations, public figures, opinion leaders, as well as media representatives.
