Russian-Iranian interdepartmental consultations on justice issues were held in Tehran

In the course of interdepartmental consultations, representatives of the Ministries of Justice of Russia and Iran discussed legislative regulation of the non-profit sector.

In particular, the issues discussed included the development of legal regulation of the work of non-profit organizations, protection from external influence and the activities of foreign agents. In addition, individual cases of foreign interference in the government affairs and legal measures to counteract it were considered.

The representatives of the agencies discussed the mechanisms of control over the activities of persons under foreign influence, as well as considered the specifics of law enforcement practice and exchanged the texts of the relevant normative legal acts.

Iranian colleagues have been invited to the 13th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which this year will be held from 19 to 21 May in St. Petersburg.

The parties noted the high level of bilateral cooperation in the field of justice and outlined the signing of an updated Programme of Cooperation between the ministries for 2026–2027 at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

The consultations were held within the framework of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in the field of legal regulation of non-profit organizations, signed in Tehran on 8 November 2023.
