Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosts award ceremony for winners of student international commercial arbitration competition

The Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted an
award ceremony for the winners of the 12th Mikhail Rosenberg
International Student Competition in International Commercial Arbitration.
This year, the competition featured student
communities from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and
Uzbekistan, with sections held in Russian, English, French, and Chinese.
During oral hearings in model arbitration proceedings,
the participants demonstrated their knowledge in the international and national
regulation of foreign trade. Students drafted legal documents in foreign
languages, and also showed a high level of proficiency in the technique of
protecting interests in court and international commercial arbitration.
“Holding such events helps to develop arbitration in
the country by training future skilled professionals. Participating in the
competition is an excellent springboard for students’ future professional
career. In addition, such competitions bolster the authority of both Russian
permanent arbitration institutions and the Russian Federation as a
pro-arbitration jurisdiction as a whole,” said Director of the Department for
the Development and Regulation of Legal Assistance and Legal Services of the
Russian Ministry of Justice Roman Ryaby, who took part in the awards ceremony.
Roman Ryaby noted that the Ministry of Justice and the
Russian Academy of Foreign Trade plan to repeat the success of last year and
hold a special stage of the Rosenberg competition on the sidelines of the 13th
St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which will take place on 19–21 May in St. Petersburg.
Roman Ryaby took part in the awards ceremony for the
winners of the competition in the English section. A team from China’s Sun
Yat-sen University won first place, while second place went to a team from the
Kazan branch of Lebedev Russian State University of Justice.
Chairman of the International Commercial Arbitration
Court at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexey Kostin was presented
with a departmental award from the Russian Ministry of Justice for assistance
in solving legal education problems related to arbitration.
Per tradition, the 12th Mikhail Rosenberg
International Student Competition in International Commercial Arbitration was
