11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum to Take Place on 11–13 May 2023

The Organizing Committee in charge of preparing and holding the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum 2023 held its first meeting in Moscow.

Opening the meeting, Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuychenko said: “I would like to thank you all for your involvement in preparing for and successfully holding the anniversary Forum, which took place in person for the first time in a few years. Over 3,000 representatives of the legal community from Russia and 45 countries took part in the 10th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. For the 11th Forum, I propose organizing thematic forums and conferences under the aegis of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation with the involvement of expert faculty members to discuss the most relevant individual topics.”

Over 4,000 participants are expected to attend the 2023 Forum. Work on the SPILF 2023 has begun!

“The 10th anniversary of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum was held in the mode of a full-scale ‘reset’ of the Forum, taking into account the circumstances imposed by modern realities and the ‘rules of the game’ in the international legal space. The SPILF 2023 will be held on 11–13 May 2023. To develop the project during the preparation period, we plan to hold offsite sessions of the SPILF in the regions of Russia, as well as other legal events whose outcomes will be recapped at the bigger Forum,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Forum’s Organizing Committee.

St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said: “As part of preparations for the 11th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, the St. Petersburg government will provide all the necessary assistance to the Ministry of Justice and the Forum’s operator, the Roscongress Foundation.” Per tradition, he said the city would prepare a cultural programme for the Forum’s participants and guests.

The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum provides a prominent platform for dialogue between representatives of the legal, business, political, and law enforcement communities on such issues as law in the interests of citizens and businesses, improving law enforcement practice, and promoting legislative initiatives in order to develop a legal culture and regulate socioeconomic issues in the current conditions.

The Forum is held by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation in accordance with Decree No. 55 of the President of the Russian Federation dated 15 February 2022.
